KMoPA Changes the Young Portofolio Application Method for 2021
Preliminary Screening via Image Data Begins
Photographers who pass the preliminary screening will have their names and one work each presented on the Museum’s website.
Image data for the preliminary screening
For Young Portfolio in 2021, KMoPA has changed its application method. Applicants are to submit image data for the preliminary screening. This change will, we hope give more young photographers throughout the world a chance to participate. Those selected through the preliminary screening will have their names and one work each published on the Museum’s website.
Prints for the final screening
Those who pass the preliminary screening will, as in years past, submit prints. As Ansel Adams said, “The negative is the score, and the print is the performance.” KMoPA thus collects, displays, and preserves for future generations superb prints filled with the thinking and passion of the photographers who created them.
Data and prints: An age in which both are needed
Today, digital image data are used for display on websites and for printing documents, but prints are needed to display work in museums and art galleries.
We hope that young photographers will, with their future activities in mind, engage through Young Portfolio in creating both digital photographs and prints.
